John Joseph Mahoney, affectionately known as Jay, passed away on Thursday, May 8th, 2025, at the age of 56 after a battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nyree; his parents, John and Annette; his sister, Jo-Ann; and his extended family, including stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, and cousins.
Jay’s passion for technology began when working at Tandy, followed by IBM. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a thriving computer consulting business that spanned over three decades.
Throughout his life, Jay cared deeply for all animals. He generously provided food and shelter for numerous cats. His love of squirrels inspired him to become a wildlife rehabilitator, where he cared for squirrels and helped other animals in need.
As a child, Jay learned to play the piano, and later in life discovered his innate talent for music, and mastered several other instruments. Jay’s warm and caring nature endeared him to everyone, and his absence will be deeply felt. Donations in Jay’s memory to any animal organization are greatly appreciated.
