Betty MacQuown Speedy Joyce, 95, of Carlisle PA, formerly of North Versailles, PA. died on April 29, 2017 s at Sara Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle, PA.

She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 13, 1921, daughter of the late Harry and Sara Matilda Breen MacQuown and sister of the late Mary MacQuown Werber. She was preceded in death by her husbands Edward F. Speedy, and Pearce Joyce and dear friend Fred Barrett.

Betty was a legal secretary for Papernick and Geffsky (Monroeville, PA) for many years. She was a faithful member of Linway Presbyterian Church in North Versailles, PA for over 60 years. She made friends easily and was loved by many. When she was forced to leave her apartment at Sarah Todd Home for skilled nursing, she charmed all the nurses who always referred to her as a sweetheart.

Betty is survived by her children James Speedy and wife Mary of Mechanicsburg, PA, William Speedy and wife Judy of State College, PA and Barbara Joyce and husband Edward of Port St. Lucie FL. Five grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive her.
