Lynda J. Hughes

Lynda J. Hughes, 64, of Bangor died Friday, February 7 at St. Luke’s University Hospital in Fountain Hill.

Born in Bangor, she was the daughter of the late David E. II and Berniece (Buskirk) Hughes. Lynda graduated from Bangor High School in 1967, where she participated in the color guard and played the organ. Furthering her education, she attained 70 credits at Northampton Community College majoring in Social Work. Lynda served as choir director at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Johnsonville and was a member of the Red Hat Society and volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America. She was currently a member at New Life Fellowship Baptist Church in Marshalls Creek, where she sang with the choir.

Lynda is survived by her daughter: Diane Constable of East Bangor; her son: Steven J. Miller and his wife Margaret of East Stroudsburg; her sisters: Charlene Reimel and her husband Bruce of Saylorsburg & MaryLou Hughes of Virginia; her brother: David E. Hughes III and his wife Helen of Washington Twp.; her son in law: Charles Delp of Brookville; her grandchildren: Steven P. Miller and his wife Melissa, Priscilla V. Power and her husband R.J., Benjamin Seth Miller, Courtney & Ashley Constable, Debora Hardy and her husband Mickey and Alexis & Amanda Delp; her great grandchildren: Aria, Riley, Morgan, Cragar and Mickey; her extended family: William Baker and his wife Hilarie of Beverly, MA and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Ellen Delp.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 11:30 am at New Life Fellowship Baptist Church, Route 402 & Huffman Hill Road, Marshalls Creek Pa 18302 to be conducted by Reverend Patrick Hughes. A visitation will be held from 10:30 am until the time of service at the church. Interment will be private.

A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the East Bangor Fire Company Firehouse, 30 East Central Ave. (Rt. 512) East Bangor PA 18013.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Summer Camp Scholarship Fund c/o New Life Fellowship Baptist Church, PO Box 834, Marshalls Creek Pa 18335 or to the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280 Washington, DC 20077.
