2 Condolences

Charles Henry Geiter Jr.

Charles Henry Geiter, Jr. 66, of Lancaster died Wednesday, April 30 at Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of Carol Ann (Hoffman) Geiter. The couple celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in 2013.

Born in Lancaster , Charles was the son of the late Charles H. Geiter, Sr. and Ruth V. VanAulen Smith. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Arlington. Charles retired from G.G. Schmitt & Sons, where he worked as a welder and was a member of American Legion Post 34 in Lancaster and USS Arlington Association. Charles enjoyed riding his Harley and traveling the country in his RV and most importantly, spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lebanon VA ICU and Hershey Medical Center MICU.

In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his daughters: Dawn L Mitchell and her husband Rich of Lancaster & Diane L Hagino and her husband Diego of Columbia; his sisters: Joyce Bixler and her husband Tom of Manheim, Sue Rintz of South Carolina and Ann Weimer and her husband Rob of South Carolina; his brother: Mike Rintz and his wife Cathy of Manheim; his grandchildren: Brianna, Becky, Derek, Brandon, Amanda, Elizabeth and Katerina and his daughter in law: Stacey Geiter of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his son: Charles H. Geiter, III and his brother: David Rintz.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10th from 1-4pm at Grace Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, N. Queen and James Sts. in Lancaster . Parking for the celebration of life is available at the old YMCA lot. Private interment will be held at a later date in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 , Topeka , Kansas 66675 .     The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1008 Lancaster County Pa offer our condolences to Carol, Dawn and Diane and family members.
    Charles was a founding member and officer of VVA Chapter 1008. He was very proud of his service in the U.S. Navy. The membership of VVA Chapter 1008 who served during the Vietnam War will remember Charles at our Memorial day ceremony. May God hold you in his loving arms
    forever.
