Kathryn “Kay” Hughes Jones, 89, of Daleville, Pa., passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, at Briarwood Senior Living, Newfoundland, Pa. She was born in Daleville, daughter of the late Arthur M. Hughes Sr. and Miriam Peirce Hughes.
Kay was a life member of Covington Independent Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, past president and chaplain of the Keystone State Fire Chiefs Association Ladies Auxiliary and life member of the Daleville United Methodist Church. Kay retired from Keystone Pocono Residence and she provided the first home for the Keystone Family Living Program. She was an avid bowler for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her five children David Jones, Philippines; Clyde Jones Jr. and wife, Betty, Daleville; Deborah Hockaday and wife, Char, Richlands, N.C.; Kathryn Cordes and husband, Rick, Newfoundland; Judy Joubert and husband, Paul, Georgetown, Texas; her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Hughes, Michigan; and Christine Hughes, Ohio; and a cousin, F. Marshall Peirce, Daleville.
Kay was blessed with 16 grandchildren, Jamie Kay Fitzgerald, Christina Long, Bradley Jones, Kelley Bellefontaine, Morgan Hockaday, Ashleigh Hockaday, Matthew Bentler, Joshua Bentler, Janice Cordes, Christopher Willson, Patrick Willson, Lindsay Sherrod, Nicole Willson and Nikki Gruver. She was further blessed with 29 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Arthur M. Hughes Jr. and Willard Hughes; and two grandsons, Bryan Willson and Allen David Bentler Jr.
The family would like to thank the caretakers at Briarwood Senior Living for their dedication and excellent care of our mother. They are truly angels on earth.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Briarwood Senior Livings Newfoundland or Covington Independent Fire Company.
