James ‘Jim’ Wood Arnold LaBar Born April 24, 1947, and passed away January 28, 2026, at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Wilkes-Barre PA. Jim was a Navy Vietnam Veteran serving from 1968 – 1972. He worked on the Alaskan Pipeline (1972-1973) with his brother Charles (Chuck) Arnold. Jim explored Alaska for 16 years, lived in Juneau Alaska working as a Master Carpenter and General Construction Contractor running his own business for 16 years, and then traveled the United States for 2 years and settled in Trucksville PA during his ‘retirement’ years. He survives by Gina LaBar (daughter), his oldest brother Richard Arnold, sisters Jacklyn Schultz, Esther Lauer, Carol Ford, Jo Anne Brennan, Janet Rogers, Jeanne Millington, and youngest brother Joseph Ely. Jim was preceded in death by his father Ira Arnold and his mother Esther Barrett (Ely), adopted parents James and Jane LaBar, and brothers Eugene Arnold, Charles Arnold, and Allen Nordahl.

Jim had a humoristic personality, but he was truly a renaissance man with his love of reading and exploring. He loved his daughter, the ocean, marine boating, camping, canoeing, fishing, the great outdoors, and cooking. He was loved by all, and his family and friends will miss him dearly and may he finally get the answers that he was seeking.
