Charlene Cottell, 77, of Scott Twp., passed away Sunday August 3, 2025, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She is the wife of George E. Cottell. The couple was married November 30, 1968.
Born in Eynon, daughter of the late Geraldine Gambo, she was a 1966 graduate of Archbald High School, where she was the president of her Senior Class. Charlene and her husband built their own business from the ground up, retiring from their mini market in Clarks Summit after 42 years. Her greatest hobby and enjoyment in her life was her family. The quintessential matriarch, she loved cooking for every one, celebrating birthdays and holidays all together, and babysitting her grandchildren. She was always up to gab on the phone, lend her opinion, or offer words of wisdom. βTo know her is to love her,β and the void she leaves is insurmountable.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughter Colby Gibbons and husband Joseph, Clarks Summit; sons George R. Cottell and wife Kimberly, Jared Cottell both of Clarks Summit; grandchildren Audrey Cottell, Pittsburgh, George J. Cottell, Clarks Summit, Cooper Cottell, Graham Cottell both of Clarks Summit, Quinn Gibbons, Clarks Summit; and cousin Charlie Zelno, Eynon.
She was preceded in death by loving aunts Romayne Zelno and June Cashuric.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the terrific care and compassion they showed Charlene, while at home and at the inpatient unit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlene’s name to either Hospice of the Sacred Heart or the Northeastern Pennsylvania chapter of PanCAN.
A Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 16th, 2025 at 10:00 AM in St. Mary’s of Czestochowa, 417 Main Street, Eynon, PA, 18403
