Catherine Martha Pechal, “Effie,” 78, of Exeter, passed away, Monday, June 2, 2025 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital. She is the widow of the late Daniel Robert Pechal.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Kasisky, she attended Plains High School. She spent over 20 years working as a seamstress in the garment industry and then was employed at Riverview Ridge for four years before retiring. She enjoyed fishing, baking, bingo, and family gatherings. Her famous saying was “What the Sh!t!”. She was well known for her pumpkin roll by family and friends.

Surviving are daughters Joann Frederick and husband David, Exeter, April Marie Hromisin and husband Mark, Hanover; son Daniel Pechal and wife Joanna, Exeter; grandchildren Daniel Pechal, Swoyersville, Adam Frederick, Exeter, Andrew and Lucas Pechal, both of Exeter.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Highland Manor in Exeter and the staff at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for their care for Catherine over the past few months.

A private celebration of her life for immediate family will be held at a later date.
