Barbara Torrey, 82, a life long resident of Stroudsburg, passed away peacefully Thursday at home surrounded by her loving family. She and her husband Donald A. Torrey where married in 1953.

Born in Stroudsburg, daughter of the late Robert B Layton and Thelma Yetter Layton, she was a 1952 Graduate of Stroudsburg High School. She worked at the Ribbon Mill, Pioneer Lodge, Pleasant Valley Manor and raised her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grand mother.

Surviving in addition to her husband and three daughters Donna Torrey Hughes and husband Jerry Hughes Jr., Debra Torrey Campbell and husband Rod Campbell, Lorie Torrey Durante; two sons William E. Torrey and wife Sherry, Michael Torrey; two sisters Jane Post, Linda Schroeder; grandchildren Justin, Tyler, Ryan, Heather, Shannon, Crystal, Samantha, Mason, DJ, Khalil; 10 great grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Barbara’s family would like to extend a very special thank you to Compassionate Care Hospice, Allen Lear home Care Association, Beck ‘N Call, Pastor Linda Keefer and Pastor Dana Antal.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 27th at 12:00 pm in the Stroudsburg Wesleyan Church, 915 North Fifth Street, Stroudsburg, PA 18360, to be officiated by Pastor Linda Keefer.
