Noreen Quinn & Family
She has been gone now for almost a full year and I am only discovering it. I feel so sad about that. I recently sent her my holiday letter and it was returned, so I sent her an e-mail, which I now realize will never be returned. I tried calling her, only to get the disconnected message. Then I tried to see if I could find a new address for her, which is what led me to this page. The last e-mail I have from “The Pied Piper of Hamlin” was on January 20, 2019, which was a retelling of the Hans Christen Anderson Story of “The Flax”. I don’t know if there is any significance to that. I don’t know if she knew she was going at the time or if it was something sudden. She was a terrific friend. We met many years ago, in 1973 when she was working as a stage manager at the Missouri Repertory Theater in Kansas City. Almost every year we exchanged holiday greetings. In 1976 my husband and I moved to New York City, where we lived for 3 years. I super admired how organized she was in her little apartment and often thought I should take lessons from her in organization. I loved all the projects she seemed to be always working on. Sometimes, my husband and I would go over and play cards or board games. Eventually I moved back to Los Angeles and she moved to Hawley at some point, but we still kept in touch. In 2011 she began sending her e-mails she titled “Ramblings”. I super loved those and enjoyed how they sparked my thoughts and memories. At one point on a trip back to NYC, my son and I took a side trip to Pennsylvania to see her and visited her cute little shop. The last time I spoke to her was probably in Autumn of 2018 when fires were burning up California. She knew that I was close to one and had called to see if we were okay. She even graciously offered a place for us to stay with her if we should be evacuated with no where to go. Fortunately we did not need to evacuate that time, but I was very impressed with her thoughtfulness. I adored her and will miss her greatly. Even though a lot of time has passed I’m am sure you still miss her as well. I hope time has let some if not all of the sadness go leaving wonderful memories of an amazing person.
